As a professional organist I must voice my opinion that no virtual organ can compete with a good, well regulated tracker organ. To really develop a good touch one must play the real thing, otherwise it's hard to understand attack/release and to feel how the pallet is opened by the playing finger.

Nevertheless it's impractical for most persons to have a real organ at home and it's in such situations that a virtual organ can be very valuable. Not the least important reason is that, even if it's available at only a fraction of the cost of a real organ, it can sound very convincing indeed.

My hopes are that vpo's and my efforts with them will help more people enjoy the wonderful instrument that the Organ really is.

My free GrandOrgue sample sets

On this page you can find the samplesets that I've created, either on my own or in collaboration with others. The samplesets are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license, Swedish jurisdiction. For details look at http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/ to get an idea of what it means.

Please note that the samplesets are intended for GrandOrgue, and users of Hauptwerk who wish to use them will need to change a few settings in the .organ files to make them usable. It's now also possible for Hauptwerk users to download certain sets in native HW3 packages on the For Hauptwerk page.

Magne Nilsen has kindly offered to mirror the samplesets on his server in USA, so the lower link that goes to his server can now be used also. For the Piteå School of Music sampleset Dell Anderson offers another download link in USA.
